A proud Tom showed off Katie, and who could blame him, as the young actress looked absolutely stunning.

But at the last minute, Holmes got interview shy as she backed away from the cameras and let Tom do the talking.

Meanwhile, his mega-lawyer, Bert Fields, is fighting a non-fiction war of words over a characterization the actor feels insinuates his involvement with drugs.

It seems Fields and Cruise don't see the humor in a recent issue of The Beast, a bi-weekly newspaper out of Buffalo, New York. The paper published a feature called 'The 50 Most Loathsome People in America, 2004,' which included Cruise at number 39. According to the paper, his crime was inexplicable stardom.
